GRE vs. LSAT: Understanding the Differences and Similarities

Both the GRE and LSAT are highly demanding examinations amongst aspirants. These will provide a strong foundation for law school or management studies. Once a candidate qualifies in these examinations, they can gain endless professional opportunities.

Most of the universities or law schools in the US require GRE and LSAT for their admission procedures. These two exams hold a strong certificate regarding excellence for admission to Law or Business schools. Similarities of Both GRE and LSAT

The GRE and the LSAT act as a grade card for admission to various foreign universities. Both of these are organized by US-based non-profit organizations. The GRE is conducted by the Educational Testing Agency or ETS, and the LSAT is conducted by the Law Admission School Council or LASC. Both of these have two modes of examination: online and offline. Both of them are used for admission to Law and business schools in the US, Canada, and Australian Law Schools.      

Differences between The Two

Though both of them provide the gateway for admission to US law and business schools, still they have certain differences in their frameworks, including eligibility criteria, the exam pattern, exam fee, and the number of acceptance rates.

● Eligibility Criteria: The GRE doesn’t require any percentage in the exam; the candidate must be a graduate. Whereas, for LSAT, the graduate must need to have 45% marks in 10+2 in the relevant stream.

● Exam Pattern: The LSAT has four sections, and the GRE has only 3 sections. The LSAT is comprised of Analytical reasoning, logical reasoning 1 and 2, and reading comprehension. Whereas the GRE has analytical writing, verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning.

● Exam Fee: The exam fee for the GRE is $228, and for the LSAT it is $180.

● Acceptance Rates: For the GRE, the acceptance rate is comparatively higher than the LSAT. GRE is accepted by over 1200 business schools, and LSAT is accepted to only law schools in the US, Canada, or Australian provinces.        

Conclusion  

There are some law schools that are considering the GRE as their admission gateway card; still, it is totally on the student which exam they will opt for. They must have prior information regarding what is the GRE and LSAT, and must choose accordingly.

Both exams are beneficial for the students, and for that reason, they need to consult with the educational councils to get a better clear-cut idea about the two exams.
