What Matters Most? Evaluating the Importance of LSAT and GRE in Law School Admissions

Law schools may say there is no difference between LSAT and GRE, but the reality is different. Many law schools prefer GRE over LSAT, others need LSAT, and others prefer both. So, the question is, do law schools prefer LSAT or GRE?

LSAT or GRE: Which Will Get You Into Law School?

There is some bad news for the ones who have already taken their GRE or are preparing to take the GRE, less than 2% of the students who enroll in the top law schools submit their GRE score. There are still many law schools that do not accept the GRE at all.

LSAT is a Better Predictor of Success

Law schools want candidates who will complete their programs and graduate with top honors. But how will schools know which candidate is fit for their law programs? The students submit their undergraduate GPA, which is not good enough to guarantee that they will excel in their law degree.

Are you wondering, should I take both GRE and LSAT? It is better to take the LSAT. The LSAT acts as an equalizing test that judges all students. There is no way to judge whether a student getting a 4.0 GPA from University A is better than the second student getting a 3.5 GPA from University B.

The LSAT offers an equal opportunity to students to prove their merit. It also allows the universities to see and assess the students based on identical markers and allow admission for the ones who excel in their LSATs.
